Tigers take the points

The Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs were in action against the high flying Telford Tigers on Sunday.

The teams met recently and the Steeldogs hoped to reverse the result in Telford.

Zimozdra and Day were the starting goalies for their teams.

The Dogs set the pace for the opening minutes and were first to get on the scoreboard taking the lead after 1:30 with a goal from Brown. The Tigers were quick to respond and Kennedy levelled on 3:18. Telford then began take control of the period and added to their goal tally, Kennedy again hitting home on 8:01 whilst on a power play. The Steeldogs carved out plenty of chances in the remaining minutes of the period but just lacked accuracy on goal. 1-2

The second period began with pace as the speed increased and we saw breakaways, shots from long range and more cycling the puck looking for the gaps. Telford found a gap on 30:06 as Goodison scored to extend the Tigers lead but this only fuelled the engines of the Steeldogs and they scored shortly after at 31:07 as Brown added his second of the game. The Steeldogs took up the challenge of getting level as quick as they could and Brown scored his hat-trick goal on 32:45. Sheffield were combining great passing resulting in shots in goal, making Day work hard between the pipes. The period ended 3-3 leaving it all to play for in the final twenty.

The final part of the game belonged to Telford. They scored three unanswered goals from Whistle (2) and Howells to wrap up the game. Despite getting 10 shots on goal, these chances weren’t converted to goals and this was the difference between the teams in the climax of the game.

Result Steeldogs 3-6 Tigers

Man of the match performances from McKenzie and Brown were rewarded with the Bradfield Brewery Beers.
