View from the South - Swindon Wildcats

Dan Breen from Pro Hockey News runs the rule over our opponents on Friday, the Swindon Wildcats

Head Coach: Aaron Nell
Home Rink: Link Centre, Swindon
Last Season: NIHL1 South League Champions
League Form: 5 wins (1 in OT), 3 losses (2 in OT), 39 goals scored
Top scorer: Tomasz Malasinski - 8 goals, 15 assists in 7 games

Following on from winning their first trophy in a quarter of a century at the end of the 17/18 season, they followed up with their first ever league title last season.

Aaron Nell has consistently been one of the highest scoring British forwards before taking up the coaching role from Steve Lyle during the 2015/16 season. Even now, on a line with Tomasz Malasinski, he is the league's highest goal scorer.

However, the Wildcats are not a one man army and have a huge amount of depth in their lines. Sam Bullas, Chris Jones, Floyd and Loris Taylor as well as former Steeldog Eddie Bebris give the team huge forward depth.
Having a successful junior system and the Okanagen Academy, the Wildcats are able to bring some of the best juniors through as well.

One weakness of the team is their relative lack of depth in Defence with Steve Whitfield, Sam Godfrey and the veteran Neil Liddiard representing the main go to D Men.

But if the forwards keep scoring like they do, it's not the Wildcats' defence that needs to worry!

Thanks Dan.
